Mājuli is a river island in the Brahmaputra River, Assam and in 2016 it became the first island to be made a district in India. Assam floods: Nature's fury hits state, 30 districts flooded Of Assam's 33 districts, 30 remained under the grip of floods that has displaced nearly 54 lakh people and killed 36 people. Several famed one-horned rhinoceros and other animals have reportedly died in the floods. According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) report, Brahmaputra river and its tributaries are flowing above the danger level in most of the affected districts, including in Guwahati.

BIHU FESTIVAL OF ASSAM Bohag Bihu or Rongali Bihu (Assamese: ব’হাগ বিহু বা ৰঙালী বিহু) also called Xaat Bihu (Assamese: সাত বিহু) (seven Bihus) is a festival celebrated in the state of Assam and northeastern India, and marks the beginning of the Assamese New Year. It usually falls on 2 April week, historically signifying the time of harvest. This year it falls on 15th of April 2019 ...
